Jo trained at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art in Oxford and at the Sir John Cass College in London.
For over 20 years she lived and painted in Cornwall, exhibiting in West Country galleries. She then moved to Fife in Scotland, where she lived and worked for a further 20 years and more recently she now enjoys residence in both Scotland and Cornwall.
Her work, including her portraiture, is in a number of private collections, at home and abroad.
In recent years she has had two solo exhibitions in Edinburgh and at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews and in London in Carlton House Terrace.
Her paintings have been included in the Discerning Eye exhibition in the Mall Gallery in London and one of her pastels was selected by the national Pastel Society for their annual exhibition.
Her paintings were chosen from over 500 entries to exhibit at the Annual Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Examples of her work were included in the annual exhibition of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. She has shown at various commercial galleries in Scotland and England.
In 2005 she had a prestigious exhibition with John Bellany and Mary Batchelor at Duff House in Banff, the country gallery of the National Galleries of Scotland.
For three years running an example of her work has been chosen for an exhibition at the Llewellyn-Alexander Gallery in London.
For ten years up to 2013 Jo organised and took part in the East Neuk Open Studios events and participated in the group exhibitions at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews.
In November 2012 she exhibited thirty oil paintings at the Mezzanine Gallery of Plymouth Theatre Royal, based on sketches and paintings of the old Plymouth Barbican.
