Jo. trained at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art in Oxford and at the Sir John Cass College in London .
For over 20 years she lived and painted in Cornwall , exhibiting in West Country galleries. For the last ten years she has lived and worked in Scotland , in Leith and in St Monans.
Her work, including her portraiture, is in a number of private collections, at home and abroad.
Her first solo exhibition in Scotland was at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh in 1999. She has exhibited at various commercial galleries in Scotland .
In the spring of 2002 there was a large solo exhibition of her paintings at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews .
In the Autumn of 2002 three of her paintings were included in the Discerning Eye exhibition in the Mall Gallery in London and in 2003 one of her pastels was selected by the national Pastel Society for its annual exhibition.
In the spring of 2003 she had a successful solo show in Carlton House Terrace, in London .
In October 2004, one of Jo's paintings was chosen from over 500 entries to exhibit at the prestigious Annual Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) at the Mall Gallery in central London . Artists such as Walter Sickert, Dame Laura Knight, Fantin Latour and even Rodin have exhibited with the ROI.
In October 2005, Jo was invited to exhibit at Duff House, Banff, with John Bellany, the well-known Scottish artist, and the west-coast artist, Mary Batchelor, in a three-person exhibition : "Concerning theSea". Duff House is the premier out-station of the National Galleries of Scotland and houses a breath-taking permanent collection including works by El Greco, Francois Boucher and Sir Henry Raeburn.
